Department Commander
On Saturday, June 26, 2010 we had our Annual Post Commander and Adjutant's meeting. We had a fantastic turnout and all the membership cards were distributed to all the Posts that attended. The District and Zone Commanders took on the responsibility of taking the cards to all the Posts that could not attend. This is a bit of a delay for those posts that did not attend so we encourage all Posts to send at least one representative to this very important meeting next year.
Our Department is already at 30.08 % of our membership goal so we're on our way to a great year. I think we're headed for an upturn in our Department. Everyone has been very positive and has a good outlook, our future as a Department is looking bright and we're accomplishing our goals together, as a team. That's how it should be and we're getting back on track!
I attended the District 10 meeting in Cayce with Department Adjutant, Jim Hawk and Department 2nd Vice Commander Gary Mitchell. They had a great number of people there, 61! And alot of first time attendees!!!
I like the District's emphasis on teamwork and District 10 Commander Kirkland challenged his District to be the #1 District in the Department. They had a great program, James O'Neill, a representative from VetDogs.org was there. He's is the same fellow that attended the Department Convention. He was a great hit at the Convention and made a great impression at the District Meeting too.He brought his wife and children along, they're a very nice family and he's going great. District 10 had decided to adopt VetDogs as that as their District wide project this year. They have a write up in this months connector, if you'd like some information on it.
I want to thank you all for coming together, we're moving onward and upward!
